What type of finish is on the Buffalo Brown set? It appears to be a flat unpolished finish, unlike other leathers which might repel water to a certain degree. My concern is that it will soak up anything that might stain it (motor oil, etc) and will also turn a dark brown if it gets rained on. I have a gun bag that looks about the same color and it's not finished at all on the outside and it's a mess. It's just soft leaather. I hope this thing has a cured finish. I'd like to know Read More

Hello John,

Good question! The buffalo brown is made from open pore buffalo hide, so yes, it needs to be protected from stains and water.

Allstate recommends Tenderly Leather ConditionerClick to go to the Tenderly website. You apply it with a sponge (supplied) in the same direction. They say it will turn the leather a little bit darker but that wears off over time. The result is a soft touch that protects from stains and moisture.

Hope this helps.
